Sconce Swag!

We live in a pre-war apartment building with 4 sconces in our living room.
We ignore them most of the year, but they look great for the holiday season!

We accessorized each sconce with retro glitterey Christmas greenery, berries and of course, a lumberjack plaid bow!

Then the elves moved in...

Whee!

'Tis the gift to be simple.

We try to keep our Thanksgiving decorations as simple as possible.  It's a nice breather between the explosion of our Halloween and Christmas decorations.

Happy Thanksgiving ya'll!

Delish Cranberry and Brussels Sprout Side Dish!

Finding easy and delicious side dish recipes is a Thanksgiving MUST...because who doesn't want a smorgasbord of sides??
These roasted FRESH brussels sprouts are so tasty and quick!  The sweetness of maple syrup mixed in with FRESH tart cranberries takes brussels sprouts from bleh to booyah!!!

The most time consuming part of this recipe is cutting off the bottoms and halving these babies. After that it's all pouring, mixing and roasting!  Couple gluggs of olive oil, couple gluggs of maple syrup, couple handfuls of fresh cranberries salt/pepper and into the oven they go!

Roast at 425 for 20-35 min.  Cook until the brussels sprouts have a nice char on them, but don't over cook them or they'll become bitter.  Top with pecans for a bit of crunch.

Paper Corn Door Decor.

Thanksgiving brings back memories of elementary school crafts...hand traced turkeys, paper pilgrim hats and bonnets...

This indian corn is a nod to those woven paper place matts we made every year for our "First Thanksgiving" classroom feasts.

The husks are made of brown paper lunch bags.

It's unbeWEAVEable!

Amber and Gold.

We have an abundance of empty glass candle jars and been saving these for the Thanksgiving season!

Well, we didn't know what to do with them, then we remembered the gold leaf kit that we had no clue what to do with either...

It was a match made in last minute craft heaven!

The directions on the gold leaf kit were pretty simple-apply the adhesive, wait for it to slightly dry, lay on the gold leaf. We used washi tape to give it a clean line.
For easy clean up, we crafted over a tinfoil covered cookie sheet.

Cold feet-warm candle.

There's this sneaky little nail that loves to poke out of a floorboard in the doorway of our bedroom.  No matter how many times we hammer it in it pops up again.  It has literally ruined all our favorite socks!! Just the good sock, never the cheap white ones.  It's beyond frustrating!

The silver lining is...this candle!!
We would never have cut up these socks, but thanks to that damn nail we were half way there.
