Peeking Autumn Glow.

We love the Fall!!!!
These upcoming months are our favorite time of year.

We're excited to welcome the Fall with these cute crafts!

We wrapped these "school" books with brown paper bags.

And made these festive Autumn jars with twine and small leaves from Michaels.

We love the way it turned out and can't wait to start wearing our hoodies!!

Bookmarks for Bookworms!

It was a boring Thursday night, after rummaging though our scrap pile of paper and crafts, we decided to whip up some fun and funky bookmarks to send to our teacher friends!
With washi tape, yarn, construction paper and some cut outs, we turned these boring paper tags into fun free back to school gifts!

Keep calm and read on!

Washi on, Washi off.

Washi Tape Clothespin Magnets!

Okay, so we've all seen this before, but we were excited to finally make our own.
They're as simple as they look!

Choose your washi tape wisely!
Press washi tape onto one side of your clothespin and fold or cut off any excess tape.

Cut 2 pieces of adhesive magnet strip and press onto the back of the clothespin.
(We had to glue on the magnets because the adhesive wasn't strong enough.)

We love the new additions to our fridge!

Yay! Organized clutter.

Freezer Burn.

It's a sad day when a candle burns out...but it also means a new craft is waiting to be born!

There are a lot of different techniques to get wax out of a jar but we use and recommend the freezer method!  It's easy, quick and foolproof!

Put the jar in the freezer.

After an hour or so, take it out and use a butter knife to pop out the wax.
Most of the time it will pop out easily but sometimes you might have to work at it a bit.

Remove any excess wax with a paper towel before rinsing and cleaning.

Candles.
The gift that keeps on giving.

Salty Sand.

We bagged some sand from our trip to Coney Island and this is what we came up with.

To brighten up the dirty Coney Island sand we added some salt.

We poured salt on top of the sand inside the jar and then swirled it around like a drink.

We ended up really liking this cool sweeping sand art effect!

"By the seaside, hoo, hoo, by the beautiful sea!"

Hey Ombre, Que pasa?

Ombre is a term meaning "shaded."  It's usually a multicolored stripe with colors graduating from light to dark.
We've always wanted to try this effect and decided to try it with layering some tissue paper. Bam.

We used Mod Podge, an empty Bath and Body Works candle, strips of tissue paper and got to work!

Using a paint brush and Mod Podge we glued on a wide strip of tissue paper, covering the entire glass. Layering and working our way down we continued to glue on additional pieces of tissue paper, placing each strip 1/4 of an inch or so beneath the previous piece, creating an ombre effect.

The first 2 layers were light blue and the rest were sea foam green.  We folded under and glued any excess tissue paper to the bottom of the glass and let dry upside down.

We tried to keep each piece evenly spaced. Working with tissue paper can be a bit of a challenge, but once it dries, it's very forgiving.

We made this one too!

We cut out and glued on some cute sea life from paper we found at the Paper Source.

Darling it's better, down where it's wetter...under the sea!

Traditional Foolproof Sangria!

A little bit of this, a little bit of that...it's best to make sangria by taste.

We don't really measure out any of the ingredients.
We eyeball everything and taste as we go...lots of tasting.
Use this recipe as a guide, but don't be afraid to stray from the path!

Ingredients
1 bottle of cheap chilled dry red wine
1/2 cup triple sec
1 cup orange juice
2 cups Sprite
cubed apples and oranges

Directions
In a large pitcher, combine wine, triple sec, orange juice and Sprite.
Refrigerate.  The longer it chills the better!
An hour or so before serving add the fruit.

We like to top off each glass with Sprite for a little fizz.

Salute!
